Five feared killed as truck rams into two vehicles in Edo 

Five persons were on Monday evening reportedly killed in a road crash involving a trailer enroute Lokoja-Okene road, via Okpella axis off the Benin-Abuja Highway in Etsako East Local Council of Edo State.
 
The crash involved the articulated truck, a Toyota Camry car and a commercial bus belonging to a popular transport company in the state.
 
The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Paul Okpe, who confirmed the incident, said the accident “involved a truck that came from the hill, a bus and a Toyota Camry.”
 
He said operatives of the Corps, who arrived at the scene of the accident, conveyed both the deceased and the injured passengers to the hospital for medical attention. 
 
He said: “The accident could be attributed to many factors, including brake failure from the truck or the driver was sleeping or other factors, which investigation will establish.”
 
Meanwhile, Etsako East Local Council Chairman, Benedicta Attoh, has commiserated with the families of the victims as well as the people of Okpella, on the tragic incident.
 
A statement issued by Chief Press Secretary, Ben Atu, said the council boss, sincerely sympathises with the family of the dead, and prays for a quick recovery for the injured.
