Florence Ajimobi commiserates with Yinka Ayefele over Fresh FM fire incident

Former First Lady of Oyo State, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has sympathised with gospel singer and broadcaster, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, over the recent fire outbreak at Fresh FM, Ibadan, describing the incident as a painful blow to the state and beyond.

In a statement, Mrs. Ajimobi said she received the news with deep sadness, noting that Fresh FM had grown into a beacon of hope, entertainment and responsible journalism.

“Fresh FM is more than just a radio station; it is a cultural landmark and the pride of Oyo State. Its loss is a shared sorrow,” she said.

She praised the station’s commitment to quality broadcasting, community development, and uplifting its audience, adding that Ayefele’s personal story and the rise of Fresh FM had inspired millions across the country.

“This is not just a setback for Dr. Ayefele and his hardworking staff — it is a setback for all lovers of innovation, resilience, and creativity in Nigeria. Dr. Ayefele turned adversity into a legacy, and I am confident this fire will not extinguish that spirit,” she added.

Mrs. Ajimobi called on authorities to investigate the cause of the fire and enforce stronger safety measures in media houses. She also urged public and private support for Ayefele to rebuild the station.
