For Lagos APC, critics of Ambode are saboteurs, fifth columnists
Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that those taking the magnanimity of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for weakness are not only missing the point but mischievous.
The party alleged that some fifth columnists and agent provocateur have taken to the social media to smear the person of the governor, who they accused of being slow in dealing with the myriads of problems in the Centre of Excellence.
In a statement at the weekend by its spokesman, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, the APC said the governor would rather think before acting and not the other way round as being envisaged by the detractors, who have no honour to disclose their identities in their social media criticisms.
Ambode, the party said, has not only been working to uphold the legacies bequeathed to him, but striving to add values in tandem with the progressives’ tradition in Nigeria’s economic hub in the past 16 years.
It urged fore-sighted political leaders and well-meaning individuals to join hands with the governor in his effort to making Lagos a habitable place for its teeming residents in terms of free traffic flow, environmental aesthetics and crime fighting.
The statement reads: “Contrary to the syndicated attack against the governor, it is apt to state that the governor is working very hard to not only build on the noble legacies he met but also add greater values to leadership in line with the progressive tradition in Lagos for the past 16 years.
“The governor is responding to the upsurge of crimes in recent times by not only increasing the capacity of the security agencies but also extending the mop-up of criminals in various parts of the state.
“It is of note that the governor has ordered the purchase of more helicopters to increase air surveillance that is critical in combating crimes in Lagos. His efforts are yielding fruits with recent security rout of criminals in various dark spots of d state. It will get better in the coming days.”
