Babagana Kingibe, the running mate to the presumed winner of the 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola, was introduced, yesterday, as ‘former Vice President’.

During a military parade to mark the 2022 Democracy Day celebrations at the Eagle Square, Abuja, the master of ceremonies requested “Vice President Babagana Kingibe” to join in a group photograph with President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

Others who are featured in the group photograph are the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Chief Justice of the Federation, Ibrahim Tanko, and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu.

Meanwhile, three military personnel collapsed during the parade.

The event, presided over by Buhari, was well underway when a commotion broke out. Security and medical personnel scrambled stretchers to convey those who had fallen away for urgent medical attention.

They were rushed to tents provided at the venue, where health officials eventually revived them.

It was, however, unclear whether they were able to return to their posts.

The parade was performed by the Army, Navy, Air Force and a detachment drawn from the Police. It also featured combat displays by the Nigerian Army Female Corps and traditional dances by representatives of the country’s main ethnic groups.

Buhari, who was Special Guest of Honour, inspected the guards.
