The Shamies Unusual Heart Foundation, on Sunday, distributed food items to hundreds of widows and disadvantaged women in Akwete, Abia State, South-Eastern Nigeria, through its annual Christmas outreach.
Various items were donated during the outreach. These included bags of rice, noodles, wrappers, condiments, cash gifts, and other essentials.
Speaking during outreach, the Foundation’s founder, Amb. Dr. Sara Abdul, underscored the organization’s dedication to supporting the less privileged and spreading love during the festive season.
Abdul, who was represented by the foundation’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Asogwa, said: “Although the founders of our foundation are not physically present, their hearts are with you.
They sincerely wish you all a joyful Christmas celebration.
“In these challenging times, they are committed to spreading the love of the season and supporting you in their own little way, as God has enabled them.
“Since its establishment in 2018, the Shamies Foundation has remained steadfast in its mission to rehabilitate, empower, and reintegrate ex-convicts into society through advocacy, training, and support programmes.

“The organization has also conducted numerous medical and humanitarian outreaches and facilitated the release of awaiting trial inmates from correctional centers across Nigeria.
“This year’s Christmas outreach reinforced the Foundation’s commitment to uplifting and empowering vulnerable members of society, ensuring that no one is left behind during the festive season.”
The event saw a significant turnout, including notable figures such as the head of the Akwete community and Hon. Tochi Okeke, a former representative of the area.
In his remarks, the Foundation Programmes Director, Mr. Shedrach Oka, in a statement, emphasised the outreach’s importance as a core initiative aimed at providing support to widows and the disadvantaged during Christmas.
Oka said: “As an organization, we are deeply aware of the struggles widows face. We see their challenges and understand their difficulties. This is why our founders are determined to bring smiles to their faces during the Christmas season.”
One the beneficiaries, Mrs. Josephine Amaechi, expressed profound gratitude to the Shamies Foundation for its generosity.
Amaechi, who shared her heartfelt appreciation, revealed how the rising cost of living had dampened her hopes of celebrating Christmas until the Foundation’s support arrived, saying “God bless the
Shamies Foundation and its founders. They have brought us joy when we needed it most.”
