Foundation equips 15,000 Oshodi women entrepreneurs with financial inclusion, digital skills

The EGO Foundation has empowered no fewer than 15,000 women entrepreneurs, traders, artisans, and aspiring business owners in Oshodi with critical skills aimed at enhancing financial inclusion, digital literacy, and long-term business sustainability.

The project, which was delivered by SheEnabled Project, equipped women with practical knowledge and skills in financial management, bookkeeping, digital business tools, savings culture, and access to funding opportunities.
The beneficiaries received simplified training designed to improve their businesses, increase household income, build economic resilience, and contribute meaningfully to community and economic development within Lagos State and beyond.

Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, Executive Director of EGO Foundation, Toluwase Olaniyan, emphasised the importance of empowering women with the tools needed to achieve economic independence and long-term business growth.

He explained that the reason for focusing on women is that they remain key drivers of economic growth and community development.

According to him, “Empowering women strengthens families, communities, and the nation as a whole.”
He said: “Through the SheEnabled Project, we are not only improving financial literacy and digital capabilities but also creating pathways for sustainable livelihoods, business expansion, and greater economic inclusion.”
He added that since its inception, the SheEnabled initiative has empowered over 25,000 women across Nigeria with practical financial and business development skills.

“Looking ahead, EGO Foundation has set an ambitious goal for the SheEnabled initiative. By 2030, the programme aims to empower 80,000 women quarterly across Africa through comprehensive financial literacy, digital literacy, entrepreneurship development, and economic inclusion programmes designed to create lasting social and economic impact,” he said.
