As part of activities to mark World Humanitarian Day, celebrated every September 16, a non-governmental organisation, the Esteemed Hub Foundation, in collaboration with African Activists for Climate Justice Project, yesterday provided free medical tests and medication to vulnerable and elder citizens, including women and children at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Central Primary School, Gwada, Shiroro local council of Niger State.

Addressing the IDPs, Executive Director of Esteemed Hub Foundation, Princess Doo Agbadu-Adu, said they were in the camp to provide succor to the victims of banditry and natural disasters.

She noted that any time a flood disaster occurs, women and children are mostly affected, the reason the foundation was in the camp to sensitise the women on climate change issues and early preparedness to avoid the destruction of property and loss of lives.
She expressed sadness over the pathetic situation of women at the IDP camp, saying the foundation and their partners would leave no stone unturned to offer succour to the plight of IDPs.

Earlier, the Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba Arah, lauded the foundation for its humanitarian gesture and called on other bodies and Nigerians to rise to the plight of IDPs in the country.
