Four Persons Bag 67 Years For Kidnapping
Four persons have been sentenced to 67 years in prison for the kidnap of one Mrs. Ighowoh Yavbiere and four of her children, including a three-week’s old baby in Asaba.
Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba sentenced the four to prison with hard labour instead of hanging prescribed for the offence of kidnapping in the state.
The State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro, who delivered the judgment said three of the accused persons were to spend twenty years each in prison while the fourth convicted on one count was sentenced to seven years with hard labour.
The suspects were convicted for conspiracy, kidnapping and demanding property with menace as they received the sum of N7million from the victims’ husband and father, Mr. Raymond Yavbieri, former Clerk of Delta House of Assembly; before releasing the five captives.
