Franco-British International University to begin academic activities October

Franco-British International University in Kaduna will commence academic activities in October 2024, offering world-class education in Computing, Nursing, and Health Sciences.

Franco-British International University, Nigeria’s first Franco-British varsity, located in Kaduna, is set to commence academic activities in October 2024. This landmark institution, which uniquely combines British and French educational styles, was founded by Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, who also established Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) in Niger Republic and the Canadian University in Abuja.

In a recent chat with journalists, the Vice-Chancellor of Franco-British International University, Professor Abdullahi Muhammad Sabo, revealed that the university would start with three core schools: Computing, Nursing, and Health Sciences. These disciplines have been carefully selected to meet the growing demand for specialised skills in these fields.

Professor Gwarzo, during a visit from the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Professor Armayau Hamisu Bichi, expressed his unwavering commitment to advancing education in Nigeria.

“Franco-British International University is yet another effort to bring forth a truly world-class education to Africa,” he stated, underscoring his passion for the sector.

The university was granted a provisional operational licence by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2023, alongside the Canadian University of Nigeria, both of which are part of the MAAUN Group of Universities. This approval marks a significant step in realising the vision of delivering quality education with a global perspective right here in Nigeria.

Known for his dedication to academic excellence and moral standards, Professor Gwarzo assured that Franco-British International University would maintain the same high standards he has instituted in his other educational ventures.

“We will ensure standard, discipline, and morality among students and staff of Franco-British International University, just like we are doing in Kano and Niger,” he affirmed.

As the October 2024 start date approaches, expectations are high for what this new university will bring to Nigeria’s educational landscape. With a focus on quality education and moral integrity, Franco-British International University aims to set a new benchmark for higher learning in Africa.
