THE Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has donated bales of baby clothes and food to Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge in over 30 Maiduguri camps.

The donations, according to the Director-General of FRCN, Alhaji Ladan Salihu, were symbolic contributions to overcome the challenges of humanitarian assistance in the various resettlement camps of the metropolis, Biu and Bama.

Presenting the materials yesterday at the Government House, Maiduguri, Salihu said that Radio Nigeria would partner Borno State government; and support without apology the Federal Government’s war against Boko Haram insurgency.

His words: “You’re at the receiving end of this insurgency. Also, there are fabrics of political completion, contradiction and sometimes subversions. You’re equally to the population that is huge with much high expectation to end this ongoing war against insurgents.

“I don’t know how many times you ask yourself how the governor overcomes these challenges of Boko Haram attacks and insurgency. Even the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, refused to temporarily relocate when the military advised him to do so. He, however, stay-put and face the challenges of insecurity along with you for over four years.

“On several occasions, you have shed tears or you have made statements that equally showed that come rain or shine, you are not going to leave the seat of government in Borno State.”

He said that Radio Nigeria is with Governor Kashim Shettima to fight against terrorism, not only in the state, but the North-East sub-region of the country.

“I also pledge the commitments of Radio Nigeria to team up with the relevant arms of the Nigerian Armed Forces to give them all necessary support and build public confidence to end this insurgency decisively,” he said, adding that the management and members of staff of FRCN have decided to raise and donate these symbolic relief materials that are not necessarily in trucks or tonnes to IDPs.
