Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State tasked journalists to be resolute towards upholding accuracy, objectivity and professional ethics in their line of duty to deepen good governance and not to heat up the polity.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, the governor advised that at a critical period when Nigeria is facing myriads of challenges, the media should always be mindful of the laws guiding the conduct of their responsibilities.

Ganduje assured working journalists that his administration would continue to be media-friendly, and felicitated with them on this year’s Press Freedom Day.

ALSO, LAGOS State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, congratulated journalists and commended the role of the media in the development of the society.

In a statement by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the governor noted that the press mirrors the society, exposes ills, and bridges the gap between the government and the people to create mutual understanding and cooperation.

Appreciating the theme of this year’s celebration, Sanwo-Olu said: “Equipped with the right information, the government and the governed will appreciate and understand issues, remove or reduce friction and act in public good.”

While seeking continued support for his administration, Sanwo-Olu commended the press for the cooperation he has enjoyed.
