Ganduje’s Mother, Fatimatu, Buried
Dogara, Ambode Condole With Gov
THE remains of the late Hajiya Fatimatu Umar, mother of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, were buried yesterday at Ganduje village around 3.45pm, according to Islamic rites.She died at the age of 95.
Leading the federal government delegation was the Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, who extolled the virtues of the late Fatimatu and prayed that Allah grants her paradise.
Other at the funeral include Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Mallami (SAN), Minister of State for Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, his Water Resources counterpart, Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu, Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmad Idris, Senior Special Assistant to President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu, and host of others.A family member, Alhaji Samaila Umar-Ganduje, had earlier announced yesterday that Fadimatu died from a protracted illness.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, have condoled with the governor over his mother’s death.
Dogara, in a statement by his spokesman, Turaki Hassan, described Fadimatu’s death as a big loss not only to the Ganduje family, but also to the state and Nigeria.
He extolled the virtues of the late Fadimatu, whom he described as a noble and god-fearing woman.
Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Habib Aruna, urged Ganduje to take solace in the fact that his mother lived a long and fulfilled life.
Fatimatu is survived by six children, including Sumaila Umar, Madaki of Ganduje; Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hussaini Umar, among others.
