In a major boost to grassroots healthcare delivery, Transit Gas Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Axxela, has commissioned a newly constructed and fully equipped Primary Healthcare Centre for residents of Imodi-Ijasi in Odogbolu Local Council Area of Ogun State.
The intervention, which is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to strengthen access to affordable, quality medical services for underserved communities. The facility was formally handed over to the community at a ceremony attended by senior government officials, healthcare professionals, traditional rulers, and company executives.
Speaking during the commissioning, the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, commended the initiative, describing it as a model for effective private sector collaboration with government in the quest for universal health coverage.
She said:
“This project exemplifies the kind of strategic partnership we encourage between government and the private sector to achieve our universal health coverage goals.
“Beyond infrastructure, it is the commitment to sustainable development that stands out in Axxela’s intervention.”
The facility is expected to serve the Imodi-Ijasi Community and its environs with essential health services, including maternal and childcare, outpatient consultations, basic diagnostics, and immunisation. At the launch, the company also organised a health outreach that provided residents with free medical screenings, consultations, and the distribution of mosquito nets.
Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, Kehinde Alabi, said the project reflects the company’s people-centred approach to development.
