GbaramatuVoice, a media platform dedicated to Niger Delta advocacy and reportage, has announced plans to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a landmark two-day event slated for Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
According to the organisers, the anniversary celebration will feature two major highlights: a high-profile Public Lecture and the Niger Delta Night of Honour, both crafted to reflect a decade of fearless journalism, cultural storytelling, and regional advocacy by the organisation.
The 10th Anniversary Public Lecture, scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, will begin at 10:30 a.m., focusing on the theme: “Gaps and Silences in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Economy: Appraisal of Resource Control, Security and Media Dynamics.”
Expected to attend are national leaders, government officials, oil and gas executives, international oil companies (IOCs), security experts, academics, diplomats, media professionals, youth leaders, and other stakeholders.
The forum aims to spark robust dialogue on pressing issues such as resource control, national integration, environmental justice, and the often-overlooked role of the media in shaping policy and perception within the oil-rich Niger Delta.
“10 years of reporting from the creeks and communities of the Niger Delta has taught us that the real stories of oil, conflict, justice and survival are often buried beneath national headlines,” the organisers said in a pre-event statement. “This lecture is a chance to bring those silences to the fore.”
