
General overseers of Pentecostal churches converged on Ikeja, Lagos to set an anti-corruption agenda for the incoming administration in the country. The event hosted by the Priests Peace Justice Initiative (PPJ), the social arm of the Priests Peace Assembly (PPA), and supported by McArthur Foundation was basically to establish guidelines for Pentecostal engagement within the incoming administration.
At the summit held on Thursday, the religious leaders were enlightened as to how they can identify, learn about and address corruption and take action to shun, speak and stand up against the vice.
Participants include the National Director of Research and Strategy of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Prof. James Nda Jacob; National Vice President (South West), Arch. Bishop John Osa-Oni, represented by Bishop Tunde Akintola; National Secretary, Rev. Cosmas Ilechukwu; PFN State Chairman (Lagos), Apostle Eyinnaya Okwuonu; his Oyo State counterpart, Rev. Samson Ajetumobi and the General Overseer, Palace of Priests Assembly, Dr. Otive Igbuzor.
The PPJ Programme Manager, Dr. Agbaji Orinya, who introduced the participants to the SHUN Corruption Project of the PPA said: “in the past year, we have established a corps of General overseers who have become trendsetters and change agents in mobilising others to shun, speak up and stand up against corruption.”
The summit was expected to issue a communiqué at the end of the deliberations on how the church can practically contribute to the Federal Government’s move to tackle corruption in the country..
