Gombe to pay over N229m compensation to Jekadafari community
GOMBE State government has said it would pay over N229 million as compensation to the people Jekadafari ward of Gombe Local Council of the state over roads construction in the area.
The chairman of the committee on payment of compensation, Shehu Abubakar Durbi, who disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Gombe, said the aim of the compensation was to ensure that those who were affected in the exercise have sense of belonging in the society.
He said government decided to compensate the affected persons to enable them add value to the development of the state.
According to him, government has started paying compensation to 468 affected victims, which he said, was in category by category, adding that some beneficiaries got millions of naira while some hundreds of thousands naira and other less than fifty thousand naira based on the type of valuables they have affirmed.
