GOMBE State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has thrown out the All Progressives Congress (APC) motion on extension of pre-hearing.

The Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Matthew Adewara, while speaking during the sitting, said the tribunal threw out motion on the ground that it was vague because the petitioners based their prayers on documents that are not yet in existence.

The APC counsel, Mr. Ayoola Ajayi, said INEC has been frustrating their case by refusing to comply with the tribunal’s directive to produce materials used for the election for forensic examination.

Ajayi, who spoke against the backdrop of the tribunal’s ruling, which is against their application for extension of pre-hearing to enable the petitioners get enough evidence to back up their case, said: “INEC is still yet to comply with the court order but we are taking the necessary steps to make sure that it complies. This delay is very, very grievous and it is unbecoming.”

The petitioners’ counsel said the electoral umpire’s action “is not a good testimony because when election is conducted, it (INEC) should hold the stake with all the parties involved.
