Gov. Ishaku flags off distribution of food items to Muslims

The governor, who yesterday inspected the various food item deposited at the warehouse of the Taraba State Transport Cooperation (TSTC ), said the government has as well concluded plans to commence the distribution of palliatives among the poor of poorest next week in order to cushion the negative effects the ongoing lockdown have ignited on the faces of the people.

Represented by the deputy governor, Engineer Haruna Manu, the governor, who said the state government is not ignorant of the pain the Muslim community might be going through during this Ramadan fasting, reiterated the determination of the government to give the much needed support to them to complete the ongoing fasting.

Ishaku has ordered for the immediate distribution of 4300 bags of millet and 3800 bags of sugar to the Muslim faithful across the sixteen local governments of the state. The governor, who spoke through his deputy also disclosed that next week, the state government would embark on the distributions of palliative items to all Taraban in respective of one religion, tribes and political party affiliations.

The gesture, as made known by Manu, has become part and parcel of the governor’s administration since 2015 till date, stating, “this is not new because his love for Tarabans and his efforts in easing their pains has always been on the front page of his schedules.”

Stressing that these palliatives in particular are mainly for the Muslim Ummah, the state government, as made known by him, “have other palliatives to be distributed to the entire citizens in the state by next week.”

The governor who through his deputy, urged the people to remain calm and stay safe in this period of global threat, said his administration would continue to work round the clock to safeguard the lives of the people.

Elated by the governor’s hands of friendship, the state chairman of All Local Governments Association of Nigeria (ALGON), Nashiru Bobboji who received the item for onward distribution on behalf other local governments chairmen, said the items would be judiciously disbursed to the entire Muslim community in the entire axis of the state.
