Dauda Lawal, Governor of Zamfara State, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to placing the state on a path of sustainable development, as he commissioned four major projects in Anka Local Government Area on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the projects include: fully reconstructed and equipped Emir’s Palace, commencement of works on the Anka–Abbare Road, construction of the new Anka Local Government Secretariat and Construction of offices for the Hisbah and Community Protection Guards, and the reconstruction of the SAFE School in Anka.
In his remarks, Governor Lawal urged residents and traditional institutions to cooperate in maintaining the commissioned structures and supporting his administration’s objectives.
“I’m here in Anka to fulfil our campaign promises to the people of Anka Local Government and Zamfara State. The official commissioning of the new palace for the ‘Sarkin Zamfaran Anka’ and the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs concludes today’s activities,” he said.
The governor added that the Anka–Abbare Road is a critical route that will enhance access to the hinterland, boost economic activity, and generate multiplier effects.
He emphasized the importance of a conducive work environment for civil servants, noting that the new local government secretariat and offices for the Hisbah and Community Protection Guards will strengthen law and order in the state.
“Education is the foundation of society. Our targeted actions aim to create a safe, secure, and supportive environment for students. I have also commissioned the reconstructed SAFE School Anka today,” he added.
Governor Lawal said commissioning the Emir’s Palace restores the reputation of traditional institutions, which he described as custodians of culture and heritage. He highlighted the administration’s recognition of the role of traditional institutions in the state’s development and stressed the need to align projects with cultural values.
He further disclosed that following Anka and Tsafe, projects in Kaura Namoda and Moriki will soon be commissioned, while those in Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Zurmi are on track for completion and official commissioning before the end of the year, in shaa Allah.
