Governors preach love, care, peace, tolerance, others at Yuletide

State governors across the country yesterday felicitated with Christians on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebrations, urging them to promote love, unity, peace, tolerance, care for one another and exhibit other godly virtues.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike admonished Christians to promote love, peace and unity.

In his message, he urged Christian faithful to remain committed to the worthy ideals exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ as they celebrate the Yuletide.

He advised the people of the state to use the season to deepen their faith in God as God has the solution to all societal challenges.

His Imo and Kogi counterparts, Emeka Ihedioha and Yahaya Bello canvassed exchange of goodwill, unity and tolerance among all religions.

In his Christmas message, Ihedioha implored the people of the state and Nigerians in general to also emulate the lifestyle of Jesus Christ and remember the less fortunate ones in their midst.

On his part, Bello urged Nigerians to reflect on the joy and peace the world enjoyed on the first Christmas where wise men from far and shepherds from nearby hills, representing all classes of men, joined angels from heaven to herald the arrival of Jesus Christ.

Also, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki urged Nigerians to show love and reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ, as they mark Christmas.

In a statement, he said, “On behalf of the government of Edo State, I rejoice with all Edo people at home and in the Diaspora as well as residents, as we celebrate Christmas.

Besides, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun congratulated Christian faithful in the state and entire country, saying the birth of Jesus Christ showed God’s love for mankind and rekindled hope that the Creator wishes that his people will live a full and happy life on earth and hereafter if they follow the example of Jesus Christ.

Cross River State Governor Benedict Ayade admonished Christians to celebrate the Christmas by showing love and compassion towards one another.

He gave this charge in a goodwill message signed by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Linus Obogo, yesterday in Calabar.

His Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, told Christians to embrace peace, harmony and tolerance of one another during the festive season and beyond according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq felicitated with Nigerians especially Christians, on the Christmas celebration, urging them to imbibe the spirit of love, God’s omniscience and service to humanity associated with the birth of Jesus Christ.

In his Christmas message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, he said: “Notwithstanding our differences, we are all from Adam and one lesson from this season is the need to love and care for one another.

In Taraba State, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku also felicitated with Christians in the state and urged support for his government.
