The Federal Government yesterday announced an amendment to its earlier four-count charge levelled against former Minister of Niger Delta Ministry, Elder Godsday Orubebe.

Orubebe was earlier arraigned at the Code of Conduct Tribunal by the Code of Conduct Bureau on a four-count charge bordering on false declaration of assets and acceptance of bribe while in office as a minister.

The same CCB however, re-arraigned Orubebe yesterday, slashing the charges from four to only one, bordering on an alleged failure to declare his landed property located at Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory while he was the Minister.

Orubebe immediately pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Prosecution counsel and Director, Public Prosecution, Office of the Attorney General, Mohammed Diri, also asked the court for an adjournment as his witnesses were not in court.

In his reaction, defence counsel, Solekeowe Larry objected the decision of the prosecution to adjourn the matter, asking the court to enforce compensation for his cost of attending hearings.

However, Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Umar Danladi, intervened, but warned that he would enforce a fee if the prosecution repeated such an application.
