The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6, 2016 as public holidays to mark the Eid-el Fitri celebrations.

A statement signed by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung, said the minister, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), who made the declaration on behalf of government, enjoined the Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, peace and justice to their daily living and through this, contribute to the development of the nation.

Gen. Dambazau also urged all Nigerians to use the opportunity of this spiritual rejuvenation to reflect on the need for unity and peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong, virile nation.

While wishing Nigerians a peaceful celebration, the minister urges total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s avowed determination to bequeath to the nation an enduring political legacy.
