Former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), yesterday, led conveners of Nigeria Prays mission to seek divine intervention against security threat and social-economic instability in the country.

Gowon, who joined the prayers in the North West zone at Calvary Life Assembly, Nomansland, Kano State, raised concern on the violence in the country.

Optimistic that Nigeria will overcome the worrisome disability confronting it, he urged Christian faithful not to renege in their faith in God.

The elder statesman believed that amid ugly experiences of kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery and criminal tendencies in the country, men of the faith should stand firm.

While leading Christian denominations in the prayer, Gowon urged them to genuinely seek God’s intervention to restore peace and unity in the land.

Established in 1996, Nigeria Prays has continued to mobilise and sensitise Nigerians, particularly the church, to pray for the nation, leaders and entire citizenry against all hurdles bedevilling the nation.

The forum has provided platform for national repentance, reconciliation and intercession to deal with the country’s intricate national problems.
