The Centre for Anti-corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL), yesterday, joined the growing list of cries for the reversal of the new Land Use Charge by the Lagos State Government.

Speaking at a press briefing on the state of the nation, the Chairman, CACOL, Debo Adeniran, said his organisation is joining all conscientious voices to call for the reversal of the increment in the Land Use charge, and the re-introduction of the Tenement Rate.

He said this is based on the economic sensitivity of the effect of the recent recession is to deliver a good level of welfarism to the people who are the worst hit and depressed so far. He maintained that a megacity cannot exist without the people, saying that the state must put human face to its developmental plans.

Adeniran noted that Nigeria is in a state of comatose and the country is hemorrhaging because of the brazen looting of its treasury by its greedy leadership.

He further said that Nigeria’s corruption perception index, press freedom index, rule of law index and investment attractiveness index have all dropped under the Buhari administration.
