Group, church fete orphans on children’s day

With the vision to better the living standards of the less privileged, orphans and widows in the society, The Kingdom Friends of the Needy, a subsidiary of Vessels Unto Honour Women Ministry, recently paid a visit to some orphanage homes to celebrate the children’s day.

With the vision to better the living standards of the less privileged, orphans and widows in the society, The Kingdom Friends of the Needy, a subsidiary of Vessels Unto Honour Women Ministry, recently paid a visit to some orphanage homes to celebrate the children’s day.

One of the homes visited was the Bethlehem Orphanage Home, where the founder, Evangelist Taiwo Olowoyemi, told The Guardian that since 1997 when the home was opened, “we have raised and trained graduates of several professions and some of them are even married now and living fine in own their homes.

Leader of Kingdom Friends of the Needy, Mrs. Modupe Ajayi, said every year, the group uses the children’s day celebration to bring orphans and guardians of various orphanages together in a talent hunt competition to make them have a sense of belonging in the society and establish them in God’s plan.

In the same vein, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Great Commission Assembly at the weekend also marked its children’s day celebration.The event, which took place at the church premises, was celebrated with a lot of activities such as drama presentation, Bible recitation and choreography, among others.

Speaking at the event, representative of the deputy governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Kehinde Hazoume, said: “It is our responsibility as parents, guardians and teachers to provide children with a healthy living environment where they are comfortable and safe.

Also, we are to pray for our children, give them the necessary care, protection, moral and spiritual guidance that would enable them become responsible citizens.”
