The Power of PVC Ride, a non-partisan lifetime nation-building advocacy group is again set to mobilise Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to actively participate in the 2023 general election to decide the country’s next leaders.

The group established in 2017 with a presence in both Nigeria and the diaspora, will on Thursday, June 23 start the POPVC Ride advocacy in Lagos.

The campaign is planned to run for eight months, twice a week, eight times a month across states in the country with bikers leading the campaign effort.

Convener, Power of PVC Ride, Akorede Balogun, said the bikers would twice a week, eight times a month, be storming towns as they did during the last ten days before the 2019 elections. He said the group would be having voters’ demonstration exercises to educate Nigerians on how to get their permanent voter’s cards.

He said: “We have done it over the years and we are set to do it again. Though it’s coming a bit late; this is due to lack of funds, insecurity coupled with tribal sentiments. The security of Nigerians, bikers and non-bikers involve in this PoPVC Ride Advocacy is vital to us. To ensure adequate protection of members, the group will also pay a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

“We believe one of the first questions the electorates will ask us when we get on the road for 2023 PoPVC Ride Advocacy will be the assurance of their security. We believe the Nigeria Police Force will be in the best position to provide answers on security and to assure that safety of lives and property would be guaranteed before, during and after the elections.”

Balogun said the group would also pay courtesy visits to other police bosses, state resident electoral commissioners, traditional rulers, television stations and music icon, 2Baba, who is the brand ambassador for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“With the new strategy for 2022-2023 PoPVC Ride, we strongly believe the awareness campaign will reach millions of Nigerians and motivate them to collect their PVC, thereby promoting more participation in the coming general election,” Balogun said.
