A GROUP of Benue indigenes under the aegis of Benue Initiative Agenda, has decried the poor state of the network of township roads in the State, calling for immediate action by the government in this regard.

Addressing journalists Monday in Makurdi, secretary of the group, Samson Adoyi, recalled that on assumption of power, Governor Samuel Ortom had promised that his administration would within 100 days improve on infrastructural development but wondered what has become of the promise.

Adoyi who regretted that the roads in the major township including, Gboko, Otukpo as well as Katsina- Ala are nothing to write home about, wondered how the government has not shown zeal in fixing the roads.

He particularly noted with dismay the roads in Otukpo and Makurdi townships saying the contractor handling the rehabilitation in the city only excavated and abandoned the streets for almost a month now.

“We in Otukpo have the worst roads in the State. The immediate past administration of Governor Gabriel Suswam neglected us in the area of road rehabilitation. We expected this government to do something about our roads but, sad enough, nothing has been done.”

“The Governor should not dissipate too much energy on probes and forget about governance which is paramount to the wellbeing of the people. He should emulate Governor Nyesom Wike who has since hit the ground running and completed many projects in his 100 days in office,” he stressed.
