Ondo rewards performance, resumes projects commissioning

A socio-political group, Majooba Consultative Forum (MCF), has faulted the criticisms by the opposition that the incoming governor-elect, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has raised a bar against the expectations of the people in his administration.

The convener of the group, Chief Akin Olatunji, who addressed the All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts and indigenes of Idanre Local Council in Akure at the weekend, said the assertion was a mischievous plot by the opponents to discredit the incoming government.

Akeredolu had during a visit to Governor Olusegun Mimiko after the November 26 governorship election declared that it would take hardwork to surpass the achievements of the incumbent governor.

This degenerated into a controversy causing a lot of argument that the people should not expect any ‘magic’ from the incoming APC government.

But Olatunji stressed that it was not fair for anybody to have quoted Akeredolu out of context, especially when he has the qualities, capabilities and a formidable team of technocrats around him to form a successful government.

According to him: “Democracy is a performance evaluation tool; it is just four years. At the end of four years, we can now come to the table to compare and evaluate.

“You cannot compare one thing, we compare two to three things. At the end of four years we do a performance analysis to compare what Mimiko and Akeredolu must have achieved.”

Meanwhile, the state government is set to reward outstanding teachers and students, just as it resumes projects commissioning.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said the new phase would begin on Tuesday, January 10 with the commissioning of the St James Caring Heart Mega School in Iro, Akure.
