Seventy indigent persons, including widows, small-scale farmers and market women, among others, have received free financial support worth N10 million.
The humanitarian gesture, which saw beneficiaries go home with N100,000 each, was facilitated by Ugiri indigenes living in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in the United States of America under the auspices of Ugiri Progressive Community Inc. U.S.A.

Presenting the cash gift to beneficiaries, yesterday, the President of the group, Chief Rapheal Akobundu, said the initiative was borne out of the desire of donors to uplift the living condition of the people, especially the indigent ones within Ugiri clan.
He expressed joy that the humanitarian exercise, which started seven years ago, has impacted immensely on the lives of beneficiaries, and has helped to reduce poverty, as well as enhance the economic standard of the people.
