THE Buhari/Osinbajo campaign organisation of the All Progessive Congress (APC), has conducted a public medical screening for the indegenes of Epe in Lagos.

The event which held at the Epe Recreation Centre, saw crowds of villagers comprising women, men, the elderly and children thronged to the venue in order to get medical examination from a team of medical practitioners put together by the group.

Speaking on the import of the event, a director in the campaign organisation, Dami Jaiyebo said: “We are trying to do for the people what the government has failed to do for them, providing them with medical checks and drugs for minor medical needs. We are doing this as our own token to the people and as a foretaste of what is to come, that Buhari/Osinbajo would take medical care seriously. It would lower medical care and make medical insurance affordable to the people because health is wealth.”

Also, the medical coordinator of the event, Dr. Wale Oyebanji said they came to meet the people at the grassroot level with a team of volunteer doctors and pharmacists. “These are the things we are doing at regular intervals and it would be more regular when the APC government comes into office,” he said.

Similarly, Dr. Efosa Elliots-Aigbedo said the free health screening is a necessity that should not be denied anybody in the country. On the choice of using Epe, he said they decided to visit the people because they are far separated from the rest of Lagos communities and would not want to bother them with an invitation to Lagos.

A resident and former supervisory councillor for health in Epe, Akin Oladipo, who benefited from the screening, praised the group for the exercise.

His words: “It is a laudable programme. Presently, I do not know that I have sugar in my system. I am surprised because the doctors just discovered it. Now that I have come to this knowledge, I know how to take care of myself. And I know that it is the same thing for a lot of people here who never knew that particular diseases are living in them.”

“So I really commend the Buhari/Osinbajo group for bringing this health screening excerise to Epe. It is highly welcomed.”

Mrs Agbaje Omolara, and indigene of the community expressed joy for the event, She commended the group for the free screening. Also Muiz Bello, a member of the Epe APC who participated in the screening said it was an example of what their government would do when in power.
