A group, the Power Shift Movement (PSM), comprising young people in governance, has conferred national ambassador honour on Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the most youth-friendly governor in the country.

The youth group, which is mobilising young people to be more involved in governance, said Ugwuanyi was being recognised for his contributions to youth empowerment in the state.

Presenting the award in the company of the National Publicity Secretary of PSM, Bright Uyiosa Omoruyi and Enugu State Deputy Director, Mrs. Onyinye Mamah, National Coordinator, Nonso Nnamani, said the recognition was also for Ugwuanyi’s leadership qualities and achievements in youth inclusion.

“You have set the legacy of bringing young and credible youths to politics to showcase their capacity and potential. This is an honour well deserved and we look forward to more years of distinguished leadership and excellence.

“Therefore, on behalf of Nigerian youths and members of PSM, we present the National Ambassador Honour to the Governor of Enugu State,” he said.

He pointed out that the award would spur Ugwuanyi to do more for the youth, adding: “The truth is that we are not sure there will be any other governor that will do what you have done for young people.”

Nnamani maintained that the governor has kept faith with his second-term inauguration address in 2019, saying: “You promised to engage young people in governance and we have seen you fulfil that pledge over the years.”

“Some of us are here today, not because of a godfather, but based on your sincere personal desire to bring young people close to the government, give us access to learn governance, to participate in inclusive politics and we say thank you.”

He explained that the Power Shift Movement was initiated to achieve public and political impact necessary to facilitate and accelerate the transformation of Nigeria and to create a network of leaders, who would proffer solutions to the country’s many challenges through creative leadership.
