To meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 of ensuring that developing countries across the globe have access to clean water and sanitation, a group, Brothers Across Nigeria (BAN), has carried out a water project at Umuoluwongwe Nkarahia Community in the Isiokpo area of Rivers State.

Commissioning the project, executed by Guatemala Frigate chapter of the association, the group’s Global President, Engr. Azubike Onowu, said the project would cater for over 200 inhabitants of the community by providing over 10,000litres of water daily.

The chapter Chairman, Sir Emeka Mba, said the project was also in line with the group’s commitment to serve humanity and add value to the world. Also, spokesperson for the community, Victor Ogunde, and Community Committee Chairman, Johnson Igochukwu, lauded the group for the project, saying the group was the first to embark on such for the benefit of the community.

“We have been having power challenges, which indirectly affects the community’s access to water. But with this project, powered by solar energy, we will be enjoying easier access to potable water,” Igbochukwu said.
