Group remembers MKO Abiola 18 years after
The Federal Government has been urged to immortalise Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola by renaming a key national institution/infrastructure in his name.
The call was made yesterday by the Women Arise for Change Initiative (WA) during the remembrance of the late Abiola who was considered the only truly elected President of Nigeria whose election was adjudged to be free and fair by the entire global community.
The group demanded post-humous recognition of Chief Abiola as President of Nigeria and the display of his portrait among past Nigerian Presidents and Heads of State while a judicial commission of inquiry should also be set up to unravel how the high treason was carried out in custody.
In a statement by the group, President, Women Arise and Centre for Change, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, enjoined Nigerians to continue to demand for the gazette of June 12 election results as belatedly declared by Humphrey Nwosu.

All these furore about MKO’s day I thought that the Yorubas were pacified by IBB’s support for Obasanjo to represent them in the 1999 election for only One term in office but he reneged on the agreement and served for two terms and wanted a 3rd Term! Kini eleyi bros? I’ll advise the group to wait and read from Al-Mustapha’s account of what really transpired during the period so that they can know rightly where to lay their complaints or protest – I don’t think that the matter has anything to do with Buhari’s administration otherwise they should nominate Asewaju Bola Tinubu – he cannot be ‘Yoruba leader’ by mouth only, we want to see some actions from him as a true Yoruba leader, also from Lai Muhammed and Rev. Bakare all to lead the protest march – to contain over I Million people in Lagos to make it effective, folks!
We will review and take appropriate action.
