The Coalition of Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) Interest Groups (COAIG) has urged the party’s leadership to zone the 2026 governorship ticket to Osun-West Senatorial District.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Coordinator of the group, Obafemi Amoo, while addressing the media, yesterday, in Osogbo, said that party members and the electorate in the state want the APC governorship candidate zoned to Osun West.

He, therefore, urged former governors Gboyega Oyetola and Bisi Akande to support the zoning of the part’s ticket to Osun-West so that the party could emerge victorious at the 2026 poll.

The COAIG coordinator said that there was growing public sentiment and clamour for leadership equality among the districts, and meeting the demand could strengthen the party’s loyalty and credibility in the eyes of constituents. He said that Osun-West had often been overlooked in past political appointments, especially the governorship position.

“Selecting a candidate from Osun-West would promote a fair distribution of power among the senatorial districts within the state.“It will foster a sense of unity and inclusivity and positively enhance the chance of the APC in reclaiming the state in 2026,” Amoo said

The coordinator said that Osun-West senatorial district has a significant voter base, which had traditionally been inclined to the progressives from time immemorial.

The group, which thereafter carried out a peaceful protest to the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, submitted their request/demand letter, which was received by the party’s Director of Administration and Finance, Aremu Tajudeen.
