A non-governmental organization, Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI) has called for greater support for women farmers and equal access to education for the girl children.

The Executive Director of FAWOYDI, Mrs. Dinah Daniel, made the appeal at the commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day, organized on Monday in Bauchi by the group, in collaboration with the Plan International under the Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights/Education Project.

Daniel emphasized the transformative impact of empowering women in agriculture, governance, and education.

“Supporting women farmers with the necessary resources and unhindered access to markets will transform communities and economies.

“Women are not just contributors but key drivers of sustainable development,” Daniel said

She also underscored the importance of education in unlocking the full potential of women and girls.

“By ensuring equal access to quality education, we foster innovation and progress.

“Education is the foundation of empowerment,” Daniel said.

She further expressed the need for women’s participation in governance, calling for policies that prioritized gender equality.

“Women must have a seat at the table, shaping policies that affect their lives and communities.

“Their voices are crucial in creating inclusive and effective governance,” she said.

Daniel also said “as the world stands at a crucial moment in the pursuit of gender equality, this NGO ask for accelerated action on women’s rights at all levels.

“This is not just women’s and girls’ issue, it is a societal imperative.

“When women and girls thrive, entire communities flourish,” Daniel said.
