Group urges youths to avoid drug abuse

Stamp-Out Drug Abuse Initiative has warned youths to stop abusing drugs, warning that it is not good for their health and could lead to untimely deaths.

The Executive Director of the group, Oluwafemi Silas, said drug abuse among teenagers is currently a pressing issue that raises concerns among parents, the society and health professionals.

He explained that during adolescence, the human brain is still in a crucial stage
of development, making it particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of drug use.

He stated this during the 7th anniversary of the organisation in Agege, Lagos, adding that the NGO was founded on April 25, 2018, with the core mandate to educate, inform and enlighten children, youths and the general public at large.

“Stamp-out Drug Abuse Initiative is providing holistic treatment to drug users while helping them to recover and be reintegrated into the society,” he said.

Silas, who is a member of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals, stated that in the past seven years, the NGO has been able to impact lives and provide psychosocial support to drug users.
