YCE mourns Ohanaeze Ndigbo leader, Obiozor

The coalition of Yoruba self-determination groups, yesterday, berated Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for criticising Yoruba nation agitators.

In a statement made available to The Guardian in Ibadan, Secretary-General of the coalition groups, Dr. Steve Abioye, said the governor should be reminded that agitation for Yoruba nation had gone beyond the level that any sensible mortal could just regard it as an empty threat.
In another development, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), yesterday, mourned the passage of President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor.

Secretary-General of YCE, Chief Oladipo Oyewole, who spoke with The Guardian in Ibadan, expressed sadness over the demise of Obiozor.

Oyewole, who commiserated with Igbo sons and daughters, Nigeria and the international community, said the late Igbo leader was consistently consistent in articulating for the unity of the country.

The YCE scribe said: “Despite agitations from self-determination groups, Obiozor remained committed to unification and oneness of Nigeria.

“He was consistently consistent. He worked for the unity of the country, advising that we should not go our separate ways. His dedication to the unification of the country is worthy of emulation.

“We must be hopeful and perseverant.”
