No fewer than 80 families in Anambra state have been rendered homeless by the ravaging effects of erosion and landslide in the state.
A member of the Federal House of Representatives, Dozie Nwankwo, who raised the alarm, said more families are under threats daily and their farm lands, cash crops, economic and valuables have been affected.
Nwankwo, who represents Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) urged the House Committee on Environment to visit his constituency for an on the spot assessment of the environmental degradation menace.

According to him, the multiple gullies have destroyed many lives, families, churches, schools, markets and other public utilities in the area, including his country home which presently hangs on the cliff in Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka council area of the state.
He stressed that the visit would help lawmakers make better input with regards to the 2017 national appropriation bill and beyond, with a view to making appropriate and adequate logistical provision for the control.
It would be recalled that a team of erosion control experts from the Federal Ministry of Environment, European Union and the World Bank had in the past made an assessment visit to determine the extent of the menace in the area.
The House was apparently jolted by a save-our-soul alarm raised on the floor of the Green Chamber of the National Assembly by Nwankwo on the damages to his premises and many other families within his constituency.
