A ninety-year-old man, Pa Ajagunna Adalumo, has been kidnapped in Oke-Ijebu, Ikole Ekiti local council of Ekiti State. Father of the owner of a popular SMJ Hotel in the community, Oluwola Adalumo, was said to have been abducted by yet to be identified gunmen from his residence on Wednesday night.

A family source disclosed that the old man was already sleeping when his abductors stormed his residence around 8p.m., woke him up and whisked him away.
According to the source, one man came down from a car parked in front of the house and went straight to his residence under the pretence that the victim’s hotelier son sent him to the old man.

“When the abductor came out of the house alongside the old man, two other men from the car dragged Baba into their car and drove away before people could suspect their mission. We raised alarm to prevent the abduction of Baba but they left immediately and we were unable to trace the vehicle,” she narrated.

Also speaking on the abduction, Mr. Festus Kolade, one of the youths in the area, said the matter was immediately reported at the police station, while the search for the whereabouts of the old man begun.

Kolade, who claimed to be a family member of the victim, said the family was yet to be contacted by the kidnappers. Relatives and friends of the victim were seen in groups in his house at Oke-ijebu yesterday morning discussing about the incident and wondered what would have prompted the hoodlums to abduct the nonagenarian.

A police officer at the Divisional Police Station in Ikole, who pleaded not to be named, confirmed the incident, but said he could not give details on the matter until investigation is completed. He assured that the old man would be located and regain freedom from his abductors.Efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Alberto Adeyemi, failed as his phones were switched off.
