Dr. Okwa, co-founder of H-PTP Energy Services, is leading efforts to make well projects safer, more reliable, and significantly more affordable. His company delivers drilling services that help operators achieve 40 to 60 per cent cost savings, a benchmark that has drawn attention from both multinational and domestic oil companies.
Through his consultancy, HD Okwa Drilling Services Ltd, Dr. Okwa provides technical expertise aimed at optimising drilling performance while enhancing cost efficiency. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, he has collaborated with global industry leaders such as Shell, BP, Chevron, and Saudi Aramco.
He has also worked closely with Nigerian operators including Addax Petroleum, Amni Petroleum, First E&P, Seplat, Elcrest, Newcross, Monipulo, Aradel, Waltersmith, and Excel E&P, consistently delivering solutions that combine technical precision with operational savings.

Dr. Okwa’s approach is underpinned by an impressive academic and professional background.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin, two master’s degrees in Petroleum Engineering (Heriot-Watt University) and Innovation & Entrepreneurship (HEC Paris), and a Doctor of Engineering in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering from The George Washington University. He also completed extensive mentored training with Shell, earning Round 1 and Round 2 certifications in drilling courses.
Beyond his corporate work, Dr. Okwa volunteers as a mentor with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (Canada) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International, where he holds the record for mentoring the highest number of professionals worldwide.
