Handicapped persons attack pastor over injuries during deliverance

protests-There was a mild drama in the early hours of yesterday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, at a new generation church around Awai road when two handicapped persons who were said to have sustained injuries during an all-night deliverance service allegedly attacked the pastor and beat him to pulp.

An eyewitness, Joy Okon, said the pastor (names withheld) was allegedly attacked by the handicapped when he inflicted injuries on their head with his wedding ring during deliverance.

The victims were said to have descended on the pastor when it became clear that he wanted them to fall down during the deliverance they
allegedly resisted, leaving him with no option than to hit them hard, injuring them in the process.

It was gathered that they were taken to the church by their parents after eight years of their predicament and the pastor had boasted that he could heal them.

Confirming the incident, one of the parents, Mrs. Roseline Okwue, said: “My children have been deaf and dump for eight years now and our pastor said he will heal them, so I took them to the church during our all night, but while the deliverance was ongoing, the pastor’s ring injured my children on their head and they got angry and slapped the pastor.
