Journalists have been restricted access to cover the proceedings of Hanifa’s murder case presently sitting at Kano high court, Audu Bako, Secretary.

As early as 9:00 am, reporters from mainstream media had arrived at the court premise Wednesday to cover the hearing of the criminal case against three suspects Abdulmaliq Tanko, Hasymu, and Fatima.

They were, however, prevented from gaining entrance to the court premises by security operatives who barricaded all entrances to the courtroom.

Although there was no clear directive from the court stopping journalists from covering the hearing before Justice Usman Na’aba, a credible source told journalists that the restriction was occasioned by a security witness who pleaded to give account in “secret”.

However, the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Musa Abdullahi Lawan who addressed the press on the development, said the restriction would be lifted after the witness from security gave account.

The suspects had claimed not guilty of five counts filed against them by the state government.
