Harvest of miracles at Deeper Life, Lord’s Chosen retreats
IT was a moment of spiritual rebirth for worshippers of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry as they congregated last weekend at the Deeper Life Congress Centre, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for the National December retreat; from where the programme was beamed live via satellite to hundreds of locations across the world.
With the theme ‘Readiness for Christ’s Return,’ the General Superintendent, Pastor William Kumuyi, in his several soul-stirring messages, motivated the congregation towards timely preparation for Christ’s return, while also leading them to seek God’s face in expectation of His divine intervention in their lives.
In his keynote address, Pastor Kumuyi stated that though the current socio-economic challenges in the country may have so much agitated the minds of many citizens, he nevertheless urged Nigerians to lessen their apprehension and fear about the coming year, urging them to place their absolute trust in God.
Opening with the message ‘Constant Readiness for Christ’s Return,’ he emphasized the need for all Christians to always prepare for the coming of the Lord that could happen any moment.
He rounded up the retreat with the message: Pressing on Towards the Heavenly Home. One of the participants, Mr. Ola Taiwo from Old Alimosho District, said he has realized that the world is vanity and among other things would ensure making heaven was his priority in all he does henceforth.
It was a similar spiritual exercise that took place at the Lord’s Chosen Church, which at the weekend celebrated its 13th anniversary with a two-day power-packed programme themed ‘Only God Can Do This.’ The event was heralded with signs and wonders, which was aimed at improving the lives of participants and raising the faith of new converts to always place their trust in God.
Worshippers were not disappointed, as they saw firsthand God’s wonders at work, some of which included the blind seeing, the lame walking, speech restored to dumb, the deaf hearing and those on wheelchairs jumping out and walking with their feet.
The General Overseer, Pastor Lazarus Mouka, opened the programme with a history of the church, which started as a small fellowship at No. 16, Odunaike Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos State.
“The Lord increased the number of worshippers astronomically, which led to the church moving to its present location, when the previous location could no longer accommodate worshipers.
“We can testify today that a lot of sycophants who thought the church would close up within six months are now pastors and ministers in the church today that has spread to not less than seven continents in over 180 countries of the world.
“To God’s glory, in the last 13 years, occultists, ritualists, fraudulent men and women, armed robbers, witches and wizards, who have departed from their evil ways and vices have become evangelists in the Lord’s Chosen. This is the finger of God we are celebrating today,’’ he added.
Mouka, however, urged the congregation to be hopeful of a better life in the New Year. “Irrespective of the economic crisis facing the world today, I believe that by this time next year, we are going to be what God says we will be. 2016 will be our year of dominion, mercy and favour, and the vision of the church to win ten billion souls mandate will also be fulfilled.
The fact that the programmes coincided with the Christmas celebration did not deter ardent worshippers from giving their rapt attention to services and prayer sessions.
