SUSPECTED party thugs yesterday went on rampage attacking the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, beat up members who were celebrating the victory of the presidential candidate of the party, Gen Mohammed Buhari in last Saturday’s poll.

The hoodlums allegedly attacked APC secretariat shortly after its members held a victory procession in Ado Ekiti to mark the victory of Buhari.

The party’s spokesman, Hon Taiwo Olatubosun, who spoke about the Incident, accused Governor Ayodele Fayose and the Police of complicity in the attack, saying the party had earlier got information that plan was being hatched by some top officials in the Government House to prevent any celebration in the State.

He accused the governor of sending those he described as members of a killer gang after the party members with intention to stall the celebration of the party’s victory at the poll.

Olatunbosun said it rather sounded unfathomable that hoodlums could attack the Secretariat even when the Divisional Police Officer of the Ologede Police Station in Ado Ekiti and some of his men were on guard to ensure that things didn’t snowball into violence during the
procession.

The APC spokesman said the hoodlums brandished guns , cutlasses and axes , which forced party members and passers-by to flee in different positions, to prevent being caught in the web.

He said those that perpetrated the nefarious act allegedly came in three Hilux Vans with Government House number plate, who after disembarking from the vehicles shot sporadically into the secretariat and destroyed some of their property.

“We had few members left when they came because some of our teeming members who held a peaceful victory procession were already leaving before they came. They shot at our secretariat”.

“We were aware that they were coming but we never knew Governor Fayose could do anything funny because of the mood of the nation”.

Though, we heard him boasting that he won’t allow any to mark the victory of Buhari in Ekiti State”, he said
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, who confirmed the attack said: “We received information that APC headquarters in Ado Ekiti was being attacked and I deployed a team of police there led by Assistant Commissioner of Police . And they succeeded in flushing out the miscreants that came to carry out the act.

“We are still making efforts to make arrest. We have information about those that came and we have arrested one of them and we are making efforts to ensure that we arrest others. Our timely arrival scared away the miscreants.

Debunking the allegation that some of his men allegedly supervised the attack, Lakanu said: “ I am telling you categorically that my men will never be involved in such a dastardly act. It was a mere exaggeration”.

Responding to the allegation, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Idowu Adelusi said, “We have been informed of allegations made by the APC that some people in a Hilux vehicle were sent by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose to attack the APC members in the state.

“Such allegation should be disregarded by every reasonable human being, because the governor did not send anybody and have never done such a thing in the past”.

“The APC in their usual character have piled up strategies and as well more than 20 lies of various‎ degrees which they had planned to execute on daily basis to cause commotion in the state if General Buhari wins the election’.

“One of such lies is this allegation of attack which in actual sense they planned and executed by themselves to make it look as if they were attacked by outsiders”.
