Hoolums invade Radio Benue
Unidentified persons invaded Radio Benue in the early hours of Tuesday carting away money and other valuable items.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the raid affected the offices of the Director General and Director of Marketing where N140,000 was stolen.
A personal DVD player was also removed from the office of Director of Engineering Services.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Justin Amase, expressed shock over the incident and ordered the strengthening of security especially around the transmitters.
He further ordered that a comprehensive report of what happened should be sent to his office immediately and warned that any staff found wanting would be dealt with by the government.
He said the police were expected to carry out thorough investigation and bring the culprits to justice.
Amase said adequate measures must be put in place to ensure a smooth handover of power to the incoming administration.
The Divisional Police Officer, `B’ Division, Makurdi, Mr Dominic Yonuveh, was at the radio station to assess the extent of damage.
Yonuveh said police had commenced investigation into the matter, adding that the two policemen and security man on duty had been taken into detention.
He promised to leave no stone unturned in getting the invaders arrested.
