House Minority Caucus hails Speaker Abbas on birthday, national honour
The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has extended warm congratulations to Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on the occasion of his 59th birthday and the conferment of a national honour.
President Bola Tinubu bestowed the title of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Abbas during Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary celebrations, a significant recognition of his contributions to national development.

In a congratulatory message signed by Rep. Kingsley Chinda, leader of the Minority Caucus, on Tuesday, the group expressed its admiration for the Speaker’s dedication to nation-building and his exemplary leadership since assuming office. The Caucus noted that Abbas’ broad-based, inclusive approach to governance and his servant-leadership style have earned him both national and political respect.
“The leadership and members of the Minority Caucus in Nigeria’s House of Representatives join colleagues and associates to felicitate with Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker, House of Representatives, on his birthday and the conferment of national honours by President Bola Tinubu (GCFR),” the message read.

The Caucus praised the Speaker’s “unapologetic commitment” to fostering national unity and highlighted how his work as the 15th Speaker of the House has positively impacted governance.
His recognition by the Federal Government through the CFR title was described as a “worthy and fitting endorsement of his unique and enviable attributes.”
Additionally, the Minority Caucus extended its felicitations to Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who was honoured with the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Tinubu. They encouraged him to continue supporting Speaker Abbas in their joint efforts to steer the “people’s House.”
