Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has flagged off the distribution of ₦474 million in financial aid to victims of the 2024 flood disaster across five local government areas—Numan, Lamurde, Demsa, Michika, and Madagali. Each affected household will receive ₦250,000 to help rebuild their homes.
Speaking at the launch of shelter kit distribution in Imburu, Numan LGA, Governor Fintiri urged beneficiaries to utilise the intervention for reconstruction efforts. He emphasised his administration’s commitment to ending past practices where victims were given meager assistance at the Government House.
“Each household will receive ₦250,000 and act as contractors for their own reconstruction projects, ensuring a more direct and effective resettlement process,” Fintiri stated.

The governor also advised beneficiaries to relocate to safer areas as the rainy season approaches, warning of the potential for another flood disaster.
Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Humanitarian Services, Alhaji Bello Hamman-Diram, explained that beneficiaries were identified through a biometric verification process in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
In his remarks, Numan Local Government Chairman, Mr. Innocent Koto, reaffirmed the people’s loyalty and support for the Fintiri-led administration.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for addressing their plight and pledged to use the funds for their intended purpose.
