HURIWA nominates  The Guardian for human rights award


HUMAN Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), yesterday, nominated The Guardian for Best Human Rights Newspaper of the last decade at its 2023 yearly lecture, to be held on September 27 in Abuja.
  
The event promises to serve as a veritable platform for in-depth dissertation of the topic, “Nationality Question in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Solutions.”    
  
Its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, who made the disclosure, said Prof. Mike Ozekhome (SAN) would deliver the main lecture, geared at shedding light on the multifaceted aspects that encompass the question of nationality in the country, and also exploring its complexities and the challenges it presents.
   
According to him, distinguished speakers and experts from various fields, including human rights lawyers, the academia and leaders of agencies, would congregate to share their insights and expertise.
   
He said: “During the event, participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and propose viable solutions to the intricate issues surrounding nationality in Nigeria. The diverse perspectives and experiences shared during the lecture will foster a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, and contribute to the advancement of human rights and social justice in the country.”
