The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has taken a significant step towards delivering a fit-for-purpose power transmission line and substations in Ogoniland.
Recently, a technical delegation led by the Project Coordinator, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, conducted a Factory Acceptance Test for transformers at JSB Zhejiang Jiangshan Transformer Co., Ltd. in Jiangshan, China.
The team inspected four 60 MVA Power Transformers and six 300 kVA earthing transformers for the Bodo and Wiiyaakara substations.
The inspection, which was carried out from May 22 to 24, 2025, ensured that the equipment met the required standards and specifications.
A statement from the Project Coordination Office (PCO) stated that the successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test paves the way for the shipment of the transformers to Nigeria.
With 40 containers of tested power equipment earlier received from India and China at the Wiiyaakara Substation, HYPREP announced it is making steady progress towards achieving its goal of providing a reliable and efficient power supply to the region.
Meanwhile, the Ogoni Power Project is a vital initiative aimed at revitalising the region’s infrastructure and promoting economic development.
