Nollywood actress and media personality, Nancy Isime, has opened up about her spiritual convictions, distancing herself from the conventions often associated with being a Christian in Nigeria. In a recent interview with Jay on air, Isime explained that her approach to faith is deeply personal and independent, rather than reliant on external validation or traditional religious structures.

She said, “I don’t serve mortals. So, I don’t have the need to perform for mortals. And I would always have a mind of my own. I would always do my own thing. I would always figure out God for myself.”

While she maintains a personal path, she noted that she draws wisdom from specific spiritual leaders she respects. “But of course, I have anchors, whom I listen to; preachers like Apostle Joshua Selman. When you understand the kind of preachers I listen to, you will understand where I am coming from. I am not your typical Nigerian Christian, and I don’t want to be. I have my own mindset just like Jesus,” she stated.

Her admiration for Apostle Joshua Selman is long-standing; she previously shared her experience attending his Koinonia service, where she found his teachings transformative for her faith and mindset.

Born in 1991, the Edo State native began her career as a model and event usher before transitioning into the entertainment industry. She made her acting debut in the 2011 television series Echoes. Over the years, she has built a multifaceted career as a television host, presenting popular shows such as Trending on Hip TV and The Voice Nigeria.

Despite her success, Isime has occasionally faced scrutiny regarding her lifestyle and faith. Addressing this, she has previously emphasized that her relationship with God is a personal matter not meant for public interpretation or judgment. She maintains that as a Christian, she strives to emulate Christ’s message of love and non-judgmental acceptance toward others.

Professionally, Isime continues to reach new heights. She recently garnered significant acclaim for reprising her role as Kemi Sanya in the second season of the Netflix hit series, Blood Sisters. The show’s performance has been notably strong, reaching the number one spot on the streaming platform’s Top 10 chart within 24 hours of its release. Reflecting on the intense physical and emotional commitment required for the role, Isime described acting as her life’s passion rather than merely a profession, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to inspire her audience through her performances. Isime remains a prominent and recognizable figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
